George Osborn is the Editor of Video Games Industry Memo. He is a video games expert with over a decade of experience communicating about games to the wider world.

George spent half a decade as Head of Campaigns and Communications at video games industry trade body Ukie, where he shared the economic, social, political and cultural story of the sector with audiences beyond games.

George has appeared as an expert commentator about video games and has commented on the industry in major media such as BBC News, Sky News, Times Radio, The Guardian, The Independent, Politico, The New York Times and Barrons, as well as games specialist press.

He is also a familiar face on the industry circuit. George has received by-lines in publications such as The Guardian, Games Industry Biz, Pocket Gamer Biz, Eurogamer and PC Games N writing about a range of industry topics.

He has also presented, talked at and moderated panels for a range of events across the sector including Pocket Gamer Connects, Develop: Brighton, Campaign’s Gaming Summit, Samsung Developer Conference and more.

Between writing VGIMs, George provides advice to regulators, NGOs and corporate businesses wishing to engage with the video games sector via his consulting business Half-Space.

He is also the author of forthcoming book Power Play: Video Games, Politics, And The Global Battle for Influence (due Spring 2026).
